Project description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Dutch government\u2019s emergency law for the realization of housing for Ukrainian refugees, Studio Selva has made a design for 41 dwellings on an empty plot in the village of Eemnes, consisting of 33 modular apartments and 8 prefabricated tiny houses. The project is planned to remain here for five years, after which the apartments will be moved to a new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


As in other temporary projects by Studio Selva<\/a>, communal and public spaces play an important part of the design, to encourage a strong community despite the limited lifespan of the complex. The housing is arranged around a central, car-free
square with bicycle parking and a small playground. From here, there is also access to a shared communal space and laundry room. The longer housing block has a gallery access along its back and is therefore acting like a noise barrier to the adjacent highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The facade consists of thermically modified wooden panels, painted in a warm red color that contrasts with the vegetation. The landscaping is built with mainly recycled materials, and the rain water from roof and landscaping is infiltrated locally via an open ditch along the edges of the plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How VisualARQ contributed to this project?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

VisualARQ and Rhino helped us a lot in all phases. In the early stages, we were able to quickly put together different options of massing models by working with standardized blocks for each apartment. We worked out a method in which an apartment was modelled with VisualARQ in three separate files, each with a different level of design but with the same dimensions and filename. By importing the file as a block in our model, we could easily switch between different levels of design, depending on the phase we were in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just the second project Studio Selva has shared with the VisualARQ community, after the 3KNS<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
