The 2D block must take its base point at its center position.<\/li>\r\n<li>Geometry must be aligned with the X axis when creating the block.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li>Draw the boundary of the door\/window (any closed planar curve should work)\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8357\" alt=\"Custom Door 3D.2D\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Custom-Door-3D.2D.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>With the \u201cCreate Profile from Curve\u201d command <span class=\"va-command-icon\"><span>_vaProfileFromCurve<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"VisualARQ profile from curve command icon\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/VA_ProfileFromPolyline.jpg\" \/><\/span>, create a custom profile using the boundary drawn in step 2.<\/li>\r\n<li>Right-click on the door icon to execute the \u201cEdit Door\/Window Styles\u201d option (or run the <em>vaDoorStyles\/vaWindowStyles<\/em> command).<\/li>\r\n<li>Right-click on the Door Styles folder &gt; New &gt; Door style.\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8358\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Door-styles-new.png\" width=\"712\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>The Door Style Wizard will open and will ask you to specify the style name, and to choose a profile from a list.<br \/>\r\nFind your custom-profile in the list and select it.\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8353\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Door-wizard-1.png\" width=\"426\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>Click \u201cNext\u201d (skip the dialogs to define \u201cStandard size\u201d, \u201cFrame\u201d, \u201cStop\u201d and \u201cLeaves\u201d) until \r\nthe \u201cCustom blocks\u201d option appears. Check the boxes \u201cUse a custom block in model&quot; \r\nand &quot;Use a custom block in plan view\u201d, and then assign them the 3D\/2D blocks that you created \r\nbefore. If you don&#8217;t assign any 3D or 2D block to the model and 2D representation, the door\/window will be shown \r\nbased on its component parameters. \r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8355\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Door-wizard-2.png\" width=\"426\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>Click \u201cNext\u201d and \u201cFinish\u201d to see the resulting custom door. \r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8354\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.visualarq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Door-wizard-3.png\" width=\"426\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: This custom-door\/window won\u2019t be parametric. You need to draw it with the appropriate dimensions. If you wish to modify it, you need to edit the original block, taking into account that the opening custom profile may change and the block base point might be moved away from the bottom center point of the block, which may cause a mismatch between the door\/window and the opening in the wall. If this happens, edit the block and make sure you select its bottom center point as the block base point. Edit the custom profile and save it as a new profile with the <em>vaProfileFromCurves<\/em> command, as described in step 3. Open the door\/window styles dialog and assign the new profile to the door\/window style.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>It is possible to create custom parametric doors or windows from Grasshopper styles.
