This is the design of the “Isla Countertop”, for the Vancouver Housing project
, designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), and comissioned to architect Alan Gomez for generating the construction details.
Alan used Rhino and VisualARQ to develop the 3D model and generate all 2D drawings from it.
“Due to the organic shape of this sculptural piece of furniture, the use of a tool that could produce 2D vector drawings in real time was indispensable due to the variety of dimensions to fabricate of this design.
Due to the considerable amount of organic shaped pieces that compose this furnishing object design, keeping accurately the organic cuts for each piece in the 2D drawings was key for producing the 2D drawings and taking this design to fabrication.
VisualARQ tools provided the link between the 3D model and the production of construction drawings for this free-form countertop design.”
